What is Coaching?

Coaching is a process whereby a client partners with a coach to get clarity and awareness on themselves and their situation, which will then enable them to move forward towards their desired goals in the best way possible.

As cryptic as this definition may sound, coaching is a transformational intervention that is better understood when experienced. So, it is important to highlight its benefits and results.

what coaching is not!

Sometimes it's easier to figure out what you don't want before what you do. Similarly, it's better to define coaching as what it is not as opposed to what it is to get a better understanding of its scope.

  • It is NOT therapy: Therapists address past traumas and deep-seated emotional problems whereas coaching is forward-focused and aims to help clients achieve specific personal or professional goals by leveraging their strengths and potential.

  • It is NOT consulting: Consultants provide expert advice and solutions to specific business problems while coaching, empowers clients to develop their own solutions and strategies by exploring their challenges, setting goals, and creating action plans rather than providing direct solutions.

  • It is NOT mentoring: a mentor is an experienced individual who provides guidance and advice based on their own experiences and expertise, often acting as role models. In contrast, coaches facilitate self-discovery and problem-solving by asking powerful questions and encouraging clients to find their own solutions without necessarily being experts in the client's field.

Coaching is a unique and distinct practice focused on facilitating personal and professional growth through a client-centered approach.
